Every transaction on networks like @ethereum incurs a fee, known as gas. While this gas fee protects the network from malicious attacks, it complicates the onboarding process. For new users to onboard onto a blockchain ecosystem, they must open an account with a centralized exchange, undergo KYC, purchase crypto using fiat, transfer that crypto to their wallet, and then use it to interact with decentralized applications. However, EOAs present another challenge. On the surface, EOAs appear straightforward, but underneath, they possess inherent flaws that hinder their broader adoption. These EOAs are easy to make and don't cost any gas, but they're not user-friendly. People struggle with remembering special phrases, buying specific hardware, or using certain browser tools. While EOAs come with challenges, they also offer undeniable benefits. They facilitate the creation of portable and composable accounts, enabling developers to swiftly develop standardized tools and components. They do not consume any storage in the network and can maintain the same addresses across networks. But with Gelato Relay and the @safe Account Abstraction SDK, this problem is being tackled head-on. The Safe SDK (powered by the Gelato Relay!) pioneers a user-friendly environment, allowing users to cover gas fees with ERC-20 tokens or paves the way for providing gasless transactions. By integrating these, developers can offer users the luxury of performing gasless transactions let’s see an example of Minting Gasless NFTs. Starting with a basic NFT minting contract, the mintGelato function can be made gasless. 1️⃣ Set up a new Safe. Once created, verify its contract by pasting the safe address into a block explorer. 2️⃣ Deposit funds into Gelato 1Balance, which allows you to cover relay costs across multiple chains from this deposit. Deposit USDC on @0xPolygon and cover the gas cost across all the networks. 3️⃣ Create your Relay App from the Gelato UI to enable gasless transactions for specific functions. Within a developer's environment, initializing transaction settings, creating the transaction object, encoding the transaction, and sending it to a relayer are executed systematically. When done right, users can seamlessly mint NFTs without bearing the burden of gas costs. Check out our hands-on guide below ⬇️
